Sometimes all you need is to chill a little. I had one of those moments the other day, you know, when you realize that it’s your own mind that needs a rethink.
I was on the bus on my way home. Can’t remember where I had been or where I was going – and no I wasn’t drunk because I hardly ever drink! Probably on my way home from work or something like that. Anyway, I find a seat. The bus is not packed so there are quite a lot of seats to choose from. On the next stop a woman comes and sits on the seat right next to me, and I’m thinking: “There are several empty seats but she sits right next to me…” Being Swedish it makes me uncomfortable. And then I thought: “Maybe she want’s me.”
It was interesting because weather she wanted me or not, it made me challenge my own mind. In Sweden sitting next to someone when there are loads of empty seats is unheard of. It just doesn’t happen. So after a while I kind of embraced the moment (not her) and relaxed. My point is: don’t be afraid to be different. Next time try sitting next to someone on the bus. Or why not start a conversation with the person opposite you at the lunch restaurant? You never know where it will take you.
The picture is from a concert last night in Stockholm. My friend is a fan of the band that played, Stiff Little Fingers – an Irish punk band. It’s always great to hear experienced musicians play. They’ve been around since 1977!
