As all American holidays and traditions are cool for us Swedes, obviously we had to bring the Black Friday-craze here as well. I happened to be out yesterday to witness the spending of money by the millions, I had been away earlier in the morning rehearsing for a Christmas show and thought I would pop into Mall of Scandinavia afterwards. It is alarming how much we like to spend, just because of a marketing campaign! I did actually pick up some stuff as well, “stuff I really needed” though. That’s what they all say I guess!
I didn’t know that Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving, and it apparently marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the states. I had a great Thanksgiving by the way. It isn’t even a Swedish “thing”. But I spent it with some American friends, so I’m off the hook for trying to be cool! I try to be cool in so many other ways as it is! Some great food and even better company, that’s what life is about isn’t it? Eating well and meeting with good people? I’m waiting for the next American holiday to pop up in Sweden. Merry 4th of July to us all, and God bless us every one!
