I thought I’d excite you and let you readers know what happened after I contracted this so-called, “made up”, virus. To start with, it’s a real thing. And to end with, read the last sentence of this blog post.
There is nothing more ordinary than another post about covid, so I won’t dive too deep into it, but it might be interesting, and perhaps helpful, for anyone out there still wondering how it effects you. I can tell you I was fine (read my story here https://johnsempill.com/2021/03/19/antivirus/). I was sick for a few days and could carry on as usual a couple of weeks later. Until I noticed something strange. I could suddenly see into the future.
Okay, that was an exaggeration. One morning I was having eggs and thought they tasted a bit strange. “Must be a bad batch”, I thought. I threw them out and bought a new pack. They tasted the same. I first realised, however, that there might be a problem when I was having McDonalds breakfast with my two sisters over a month ago. My Egg McMuffin tasted just as strange as the eggs I had at home … but my sisters didn’t taste anything strange. “They taste like they always do.”
So, my sense of taste was affected by covid. But the weird thing is that is started several weeks after my recovery. For the most part my sense is unaltered; eggs taste strange most of the time (but sometimes as they normally do), and coffee smells strange, but tastes as it should. Onions also taste slightly different and nuts can taste a bit different at times. It’s hard to explain the taste. The closest would perhaps be of metal, some sort of metallic sensation.
It will get better; it’s just a bit annoying.
